Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State on Saturday canvassed the transfer of the ecological funds to the Federal Ministry of Environment, which he said has the expertise and national reach to manage the fund more efficiently. El-Rufai revealed that he headed a committee during the first term of the Muhammadu Buhari regime, which recommended the transfer of the funds to the environment ministry. ‘’In the last five years, we have been planting 1.5 million trees every year. Earlier, the minister said his ministry had promised five million seedlings to Kaduna State in fulfilment of Buhari’s pledge to plant 25 million trees across the country. Abubakar said the ministry decided to commemorate this year’s World Environment Day with the state because of El Rufai’s commitment to environmental issues and support to the ministry.
