BigstockThe Shawwal moon has not been sightedThe Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated in Bangladesh Thursday. The National Moon Sighting Committee met at 7:15pm Tuesday after reviewing the information of the Shawwal moon sighting from around the country. The meeting was chaired by State Minister for Religious Affairs and Moon Sighting Committee Chairman Sheikh Md Abdullah. President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on Monday, greeting the countrymen as well as Muslims across the world, on this occasion. Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Police has taken stringent security measures to ensure the smooth holding of Eid congregations in the National Eidgah.
