Kano State Ministry of Environment has embarked on clearing the Eid grounds in the Kano metropolis, preparatory to the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir Prayers on Saturday. Addressing newsmen after inspecting the exercise at Kofar Mata Eid Ground on Thursday, the state Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Kabiru Getso, said the exercise was important. According to him: “It’s a festive season so we have to ensure the sanctity and good hygiene at the worship centres for the season.”Getso maintained that Kano State Government had been committed to ensuring a healthier and cleaner environment since its inception. The Commissioner also inspected the Sharada Eid Ground, on BUK Road, where a huge volume of refuse and other unwanted materials were evacuated. He urged Kano residents to avoid indiscriminate disposal of wastes, especially animal waste to be slaughtered during the sacrifice.
