Egypt named as host of 2019 AFCON77 Tuesday, January 8th 2019 at 15:29 GMT +3 | Tuesday, January 8th 2019 at 15:29 GMT +3 | Football By Kelley Boss:Egypt has won the bid to replace Cameroon as the host of this year's Africa Cup of Nations finals, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced. Egypt beat South Africa, the only other nation to submit a bid, in a vote held at a CAF executive committee meeting. Cameroon, the original host nation was stripped of staging duties in November citing slow preparations. They based their bid on providing the most profit for CAF with cheaper organisation than South Africa. Egypt will host the tournament for the fifth time.
