Egypt’s tourism ministry has partnered up with the CNN to launch a campaign to promote tourism in Egypt, a ministry statement said on Saturday. The ministry said that CNN will sponsor a special report on Egypt’s tourism hotspots which will air on the network at the end of the year to spread awareness about all kinds of tourism in Egypt. Tourism Minister Yehia Rashed said the partnership is a good step toward accomplishing an international tourism promotion strategy. Last month, the “This is Egypt” promotional campaign won the Best Tourism Promotional Video in the Middle East at the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) in China, beating out 63 other contestants. Egypt’s tourism industry, a crucial source of hard currency, has suffered in the years of turmoil that followed the mass protests, as well as from the suspected bombing of a Russian plane in Sinai in 2015, which killed all 224 people on board.
