Badawy emphasized that Egypt’s participation in this event reflects the strength of the robust ties between Egypt and Cyprus. Partnering in regional natural gas interconnection between the two countries is at the forefront of cooperation areas and has witnessed continuous progress recently, he added, successfully transforming interconnection ideas and projects into agreements and practical steps. Strong tiesOn the sidelines of the celebration, Badawy met with his Cypriot counterpart, Michalis Damianos, where they affirmed their support for continuing joint integrated work within energy and natural gas resource development to achieve shared interests. The Egyptian delegation also met with officials from the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Cyprus in Nicosia, as part of ongoing coordination and joint efforts between working groups from both sides to expedite the implementation of agreed-upon natural gas projects. Strategic cooperation was discussed to advance priority joint projects, including linking Cypriot gas fields to Egyptian infrastructure and facilities for re-export via Egypt to European markets.
