A grouping of 40 political parties, known as The Egyptian Parties Alliance, has called on President Abdelfattah al-Sisi to seek another term in office, ahead of 2024 presidential elections. The alliance includes the Sadat Democratic Party, the Nasserist Party, the Shabab Misr Party, the Arab Socialist Party, the Free Constitutional Party, and the Tahrir Party, “Ahram Online” reports. Al-Sisi also last week received endorsement from Mostaqabal Watan Party, the country’s parliamentary majority party. The Egyptian President came to power in 2014, after deposing then the democratically elected leader, late Mohamed Morsi. So far, Al-Sisi has not made any public announcement about his plans to run for another term or not.
