He was speaking at a talk on the draft new national education policy. Mr. Javadekar urged people to send in their suggestions on the policy till July 31. Speaking before the Minister, BJP general secretary Murlidhar Rao said there was a need to shed the “colonial hangover” in education. Adding a personal touch, Mr. Javadekar said his 92-year-old mother, who stayed with him, had been a primary school teacher. Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar said on Tuesday that as a “soldier of democracy”, he believed there could be different opinions and that he was willing to talk to all.
