The Education Minister Mohamed Al-Gharyou has reviewed progress on an initiative aimed at improving the teaching of English in schools across the country. Representatives from the British Council and the Teachers Training Institute attended the meeting, where officials reviewed the results of an assessment conducted for more than 2,000 English language teachers. They also discussed the rollout of a recently launched teacher training programme and expert reports on the review and development of English language curricula. Participants stressed the need to expand the initiative to include English teachers in all education districts across Libya, in line with directives from the prime minister. The initiative forms part of a national programme aimed at improving English language teaching in Libyan schools through teacher assessments, professional training and curriculum development.
