The model on display did still require a driver to be behind the wheel but future models are expected to be fully autonomous. While it will be many years before they are common place on our roads, it is feasible it could be in my lifetime. Mr Bridges said the autonomous cars could improve efficiency on the roads, meaning cars could drive closer and potentially faster. In a country so reliant on cars, being told you can no longer drive can be devastating for many.
