Residents of Goose Bay have been asked to evacuate due to an upstream earthquake landslide at risk of breaching. Geotechnical engineers, the police, welfare staff and the rural fire brigade had met with Goose Bay residents, Civil Defence controller Murray Sinclair said. Goose Bay resident Doug Jones said he thought the slip damming the Oke Makura Stream would have happened in the earthquake. Smith and his wife Helene Smith had travelled up from Loburn to get repairs done on their yellow-stickered Goose Bay house.
