The McGregor Bay Wetland Society was informed of the vandalism by one of the landowners, and neither they nor the society knows who undertook the removal, chair Carol Sutherland said. The vandalism of an unconsented​ Coromandel floodgate has been branded the handiwork of “eco-terrorists”, by a resident. It's the same floodgate that was installed without resource consent in the McGregor Bay Wetland by a member of the public around 2016.
