Ecnec clears Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway project


The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) has approved the ‘Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway’ project involving an estimated cost of Tk16,901.32 crore to ease traffic congestion in and around the capital. “Of the total project cost, Tk12,402.65 crore will come from the national exchequer while the rest of Tk22,164.69 crore as project assistance,” he said. Kamal said Bangladesh Bridges Authority under the Bridges Division would implement the expressway project by June 2022. The 24-km expressway will start from Dhaka airport to Nabinagar Mor (crossroad) via Abdullahpur-Ashulia-Baipail and then EPZ to Chandra Mor (crossroad). Of the total project cost, Tk2,395.69 crore will come from the national exchequer while the rest of Tk11,214.78 crore as project assistance from JICA.
