Heavy rain caused flash flooding in parts of Butler, Saunders and other area counties Tuesday morning. The National Weather Service estimated that as much as 10 inches of rain fell in western Saunders County, while 3 to 7 inches fell over a wide area of eastern Nebraska. The Lincoln Airport received just 0.11 inches of rain, while other areas of the city reported up to half an inch. The Weather Service was reporting "moderate flooding" on the Wahoo Creek, which hit 25.2 feet early Tuesday morning, more than 4 feet above flood stage. A number of counties in eastern Nebraska, including Lancaster County, remain in a flood watch until 7 p.m. due to the potential for more heavy rain throughout the day.
