A Nelson family who lost almost everything in Cyclone Gita have had an unexpected change in fortune just in time for Christmas. Earlier this month the Dickson family from Mārahau were the winners of an Nelson Building Society car draw, taking home a new Subaru XV Sport. The Dickson family had moved north from Christchurch in 2015, looking for a fresh start after the February 2011 Earthquake. Mikey Dickson said the family had been at home all day while the cyclone passed through.
