In a statement issued by the UN delegate on Tuesday, Konstantinos Vardakis, Chargé d'Affaires (ad interim) of the EU in Bangladesh offered the EU's sympathies to everyone affected by the fire. In the message, he stated: "The EU Delegation expresses its heartfelt condolences for all those affected by the fire which occurred at Old Dhaka's Chawkbazar on 20 February. Also Read- Chawkbazar fire disaster death toll rises to 69 victimsKonstantinos Vardakis furthered: "The EU Delegation wishes for the speedy recovery of those injured in the incident." Two more victims of the fire died while receiving treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Monday night and early Tuesday, raising the death toll to 69 people.
