Sunday’s closure of the school for a week is just cosmetic as it will not help to resolve the glaring loopholes in the school’s security system and overall management. COVER UP INCIDENTEqually worse is the school’s attempt to cover up or downplay the incident that strikes right at the heart of student safety. Security is a serious challenge as teachers and support staff are overwhelmed. A report published last year on security and safety in schools, prepared by a task force led by veteran administrator Claire Omolo, revealed shocking lapses that exposed learners to serious threats.
