ED case against 8 U.P. engineers


more-inThe Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered a money laundering case in connection with alleged irregularities and corruption in the implementation of the ₹1,500-crore Gomti riverfront development project during the erstwhile Samajwadi Party rule in Uttar Pradesh. “The case has been registered to unearth the money trail for alleged losses to the exchequer due to irregularities in the development project in Lucknow,” said an official. The Enforcement Directorate case is based on an FIR registered by the CBI last December. Prime accusedThose named as accused are the then chief engineers Gulesh Chandra, Qazim Ali and S. N. Sharma; the then superintendent engineers Akhil Raman, Shiv Mangal Yadav, Roop Singh Yadav and Kamaleshwar Singh; and executive engineer Surendra Yadav. Accused Gulesh Chandra, Akhil Raman, Shiv Mangal and Roop Singh have now retired.
