COURTESYExtensions of project deadlines are nothing new to BangladeshIt is disappointing to learn that the proposed railway track from Dohazari in Chittagong to Cox’s Bazar continues to experience one delay after another, and as per the latest reports, will not be ready for operation until at least 2023, assuming there are no more delays in the future. Thus, delays such as this are extremely frustrating, and do not bode well for a nation that is looking to be taken seriously as an inspiration for development. Extensions of project deadlines are nothing new to Bangladesh. It is this lack of coordination and cooperation that must be addressed, for it is the people and the entire nation that suffer as a result. Building roads and railways are integral to the development of a nation, but it is equally important to draw up realistic plans and have a solid implementation strategy to remain within the proposed deadline and cost.
