KUALA LUMPUR: Former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad said he has accepted an apology from his successor over the latter’s accusation that he was a traitor to the nation. “Nevertheless, I am moved by Shukri’s (MACC commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull) WhatsApp message to me this morning apologising for the statement he made. “I accept his apology wholeheartedly and both of us consider the matter settled,” he said in a statement. It was reported that Shukri had made the remark during a press conference at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya yesterday, saying he had retired before Dzulkifli became chief as he did not want to work under a “traitor to the nation”. Shukri said Dzulkifli had protected those who violated the law instead of ensuring they were brought to justice.
