Alexandra police sergeant Adam Elder said the explosives were discovered washed up on Lake Roxburgh's Mckenzies Beach last night. A scene guard is at currently at the site of the discovery and a bomb squad has been deployed from Christchurch to ensure "the dynamite are disposed of safely." The bomb squad arrived at the scene about 2.20pm and the explosives were safely detonated about 25 minutes after that.
