On the occasion of PN’s 119th founding anniversary, no less than President Rodrigo Duterte attended the celebration held at the Sasa Wharf in Davao City, the first to be held in his hometown. He led in the commissioning of BRP Davao del Sur, the second Strategic Sealift Vessel (SSV) of the Philippine Fleet. The said vessel together with BRP Gregorio del Pilar were open to the public from June 1 to 9 as part of the celebration. PCSO officials led by Chairman Jose Jorge Corpuz and General Manager Alexander Balutan likewise attended the happy occasion. With this year’s theme, “The Navy: Protecting the Seas, Securing Our Future,” the Philippine Navy showcased its brand new SSV and three Multipurpose Assault Crafts (MPACs) with missile provisions.
