THE final prototype of the new jeepney under the public utility vehicle (PUV) modernization program will be released in the first week of September, according to the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB). “What DTI approves will be the basic design of the jeepney,” LTFRB Board Member Aileen Lizada said in a radio interview on Tuesday. According to Lizada, the government and various stakeholders are conducting consultations to come up with the final prototype. “There will be a number of jobs in this jeepney modernization. “Local manufacturers will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of the new jeepney,” she said.
