In June, Duterte warned, “there will come a day that someone will shoot” Trillanes. With the exception of the abandoned assassination attempt aforementioned, Duterte’s issuance on August 31, of a proclamation revoking Trillanes’ amnesty by far stoops the lowest. Along with a few hundred other officers, including a few who are now servile toadies to Duterte, Trillanes was part of two bloodless mutinies, in 2003 and in 2007. Duterte’s order, which was made public last week, revoked for being void ab initio the amnesty granted to Trillanes in 2011 by then President Benigno Aquino 3rd. Trillanes has said he will stop at nothing to expose Duterte for what he is.
