Travellers will be looking with fresh interest at their air crews after a revelation by King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands that he has a secret life moonlighting as a pilot for the Dutch airline KLM. The king, 50, who ascended the throne after his much-loved mother Beatrix abdicated in 2013, told De Telegraaf newspaper that he was more than a regular constitutional monarch. “I find flying just fantastic,” he said. “You can’t take your day-to-day problems with you into the air. That, for me, is the most relaxing thing about flying.”The king has been flying once a fortnight as a co-pilot for KLM, which stands for Royal Dutch Airlines.
