France’s Danny Pinheiro Rodrigues will compete as a replacement for Van Gelder in the rings final. Dutch gymnast and three-time rings world champion Yuri van Gelder was expelled by his team from the Rio Olympics for violating team rules and staying out all night drinking. “It’s terrible for Yuri, but this kind of behaviour is unacceptable,” the Dutch team ambassador Maurits Hendriks said a statement, via the Guardian. Van Gelder has been in trouble for these kinds of violations before.
