It was recovered when his tomb was opened in 1827 and still has visible images of Jesus and the apostles on the oak fragments. The collection, housed in a new Open Treasure exhibition area, also features St Cuthbert’s gold and garnet pectoral cross, left, a portable altar and ivory comb.
