Dunedin bakes in spring heat

The South is feeling the heat and Dunedin is leading the way as an airflow from the sub-tropics and Australia rushes over the southern part of New Zealand. WeatherWatch.co.nz said temperatures were in the high 20s in some parts of coastal Otago, and Dunedin City had registered a high of 27degC. At 3.15pm the MetService website showed Dunedin City as still the hottest place in the country, on 26degC. WeatherWatch said the airflow would head northwards over the next 24 hours, and eastern parts of the country would remain the warmest. Rain is expected in Otago tomorrow but temperatures would remain mild, around 18-20degC.
