Ducati has revealed the revamped 2021 Monster, with more power and less weight the names of the game, along with extra tech and a name change, ditching the numerical suffixes of the Monster 821/797. The Italian manufacturer has dropped 18kg from the outgoing Monster, some of which has come from a move to a Panigale-inspired monocoque, replacing the old trellis frame. That means an aluminium front frame that bolts directly to the engine heads, which weighs around 4.5kg less than the trellis frame. Supplied/Supplied If it doesn’t have a trellis frame or a single-sided swingarm, is it really a Ducati? While the on-paper performance of the Monster is hard to disagree with, it’ll be interesting to see how Ducati die-hards respond to the new model.
