Orange weather alert extended for Louth, Dublin and WicklowStatus orange rain warning for Waterford came into effect at 9amDublin schools on alert as orange warning forces early closuresWork is under way to try and minimise any potential flood damage in vulnerable areasLouth has been added to the list of counties under orange rainfall warnings, with other advisories expanded elsewhere in the country. Weather warnings have been issued for 13 counties, with the worst impacts projected for areas that were already severely affected by flooding in recent days. This, combined with high river levels and high tides, is likely to lead to localised flooding and river flooding as well as difficult travel conditions. Schools across Dublin are on alert until Friday lunchtime, with councils warning that saturated ground and high river levels could cause localised flooding. St Declan’s Primary School in Ballsbridge will close at midday today due to the severe weather alert, with transport arranged to support the early collection of pupils.
