The force said the total number of seizures was nearly £4m. It comes as figures from the Home Office show 970 seizures were carried out by Cumbria Police in the year ending March 22. When records began in 2006/7, seizures stood at 1,416 and hit a peak (1,657) in 2011/12 before falling. Detective Superintendent Ian Hussey said: “Our officers work all year round to protect Cumbria against serious and organised crime. This work is carried out under the banner of Operation Alliance and will continue throughout 2023.
