A 22-year-old boy has hacked to death his mother in Tangail’s Modhupur after she refused to give him money to buy drugs, police say. Their neighbour Akbar Ali, 55, who tried to save Minara Begum, 50, from her son Miraz, was also attacked and killed by the drug addict. Modhupur police OC Shafiqul Islam said Miraz attacked his mother with a knife on Monday morning after she had refused to give him money. “Their neighbour Akbar rushed to save Minara but he, too, was attacked by Miraz,” OC told the Dhaka Tribune. “Both of them died on the spot.”Locals apprehended Miraz and handed him over to police.
