Drivers and passengers entering Singapore to scan thumbs soon

JOHOR BARU: Drivers and passengers of cars entering Singapore will soon begin scanning their thumbs for a Bioscreen check at the republic's two land entry points. The move is part of expansions for the Bioscreen thumbprint checks implemented by the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). The ICA said that the thumbprint scanning will be required for all car travellers aged six and above, and this includes the car driver and passengers. A step-by- step guide on the Bioscreen thumbprint checks at the two Singapore land checkpoints has been circulated by ICA on their website and at the two checkpoints in Woodlands and Tuas. The guide shows three steps for car travellers in which firstly, it involves driver and passenger stepping out of the car with their passport upon arrival at the checkpoint gate.
