PETALING JAYA: The driver of a car seen in a viral video of a hit-and-run incident in Shah Alam claims he fled the scene of an accident because he was afraid of being beaten up. Selangor Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Azman Shariat said the incident occurred at around 1pm on Friday (Oct 18). In a 38-second clip believed to be from dashcam footage from another vehicle, a white car is seen overtaking on the right lane before swerving to the left after hitting the motorcyclist. Supt Azman said the 59-year-old driver of the car has since lodged a police report. "He claims that he drove off in fear of becoming a victim of an angry mob," he said when contacted on Saturday (Oct 19).
