A Queenstown man who made a U-turn when he saw a police car, has been arrested and charged with a breach of bail, driving matters and drink-driving. Sergeant Keith Newell, of Queenstown, said the 36-year-old was driving on Frankton Rd about 4.10am yesterday when he suddenly turned around and drove ‘‘at speed’’ up Perkins Rd. He then abandoned the car, but was caught by police when he later returned to it, and recorded a breathalcohol reading of 292mcg when tested.
