PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today chaired the Pakatan Harapan government’s first Cabinet meeting. Here are among the key points from his press conference this afternoon. - As part of its cost-cutting measures, the government has identified expenditure which can be reduced from the previous Budget, worth billions of ringgit. - Cabinet ministers will take a 10 per cent pay cut- Some government bodies will be dissolved, including the National Council of Professors, which Dr Mahathir says has been used as a political tool. - The Land Public Transport Commission’s (SPAD) will not be retained, with its functions returned to the Transport Ministry- Fuel retail prices will remain unchanged, despite global oil prices soaring to more than US$70 per barrel- The Pakatan Harapan government will review the scheduled July 1 pay rise for civil servants pay rise.
