BANGKOK: Malaysia has rejected a compensation offer from Goldman Sachs over the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal, as the figure was too low, said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. “If we cannot come to any agreement (in negotiations with Goldman Sachs), we will have to resort to the courts. A Financial Times report had previously said that Malaysia had rejected Goldman Sachs’ offer as it was dissatisfied with the amount. Meanwhile, Dr Mahathir did not specify the amount Malaysia is expecting to receive from Goldman, saying that it will depend on the negotiations. Meanwhile, on an unrelated matter, Dr Mahathir confirmed that he will be going to the ground to help Pakatan Harapan in the Tanjung Piai by-election campaign.
