Ministers are poised to announce the number of “red” list travel destinations is to be dramatically scaled-back as part of an overhaul of Covid-era border restrictions. In a move that will offer UK holidaymakers greater freedom to travel abroad, more than 30 of the 62 countries on the “red” list are set to be removed. Countries on the list include Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, the Maldives, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Thailand. The Times reported Turkey will be among the countries that will come off the “red” list. It is anticipated that people arriving from “red” list countries will continue to be required to spend 11 nights in a quarantine hotel, at a cost of £2,285 for solo travellers.
