A man riding an e-scooter was struck by a driver and rushed to hospital with “life-threatening” injuries Friday night, Toronto police confirmed. The collision occurred at University Avenue and Elm Street. Police said the victim was taken to hospital with major head injuries. Police told the Star several callers had mistakenly reported that a cyclist or pedestrian had been struck, when in reality the victim was driving an electronic scooter. University Avenue southbound is closed at Gerrard Avenue while investigators are on the scene.
