Under fire for rejecting advice from a top doctor at Public Health Ontario on tough benchmarks for imposing COVID-19 restrictions, Premier Doug Ford says the thresholds can be strengthened as infections probe new highs. Public Health Ontario released a statement saying the organization stands by the comments made by Deeks that thresholds under the framework were off the mark. “I’m not in agreement with the indicators as they are currently written in the framework,” Deeks said. Loading...Health Minister Christine Elliott’s office released a statement Thursday saying the framework was the product of widespread advice, but appeared to leave the door open to changes. There were 472 new cases in Toronto, 448 in Peel, 155 in York Region and 91 in Ottawa.
