At times the blood was so dangerously thick that the skier should have been in hospital rather than competing. The Sunday Times and the German broadcaster ARD have been given access to a database containing more than 10,000 blood tests from nearly 2,000 winter sports stars. It reveals that about a third of all medals, including 91 golds, have been won in the Olympics and world championships…
