Kenyans should not fork out a shilling for drugs at public hospitals in the four counties doing the universal health coverage pilot, Health PS Susan Mochache has said. “UHC has solved issues of drugs; no more buying drugs from public hospitals,” she said. She said there is collaboration between the national government and Thailand to make the UHC programme a success in Kenya. “We will deal with the issues, we are happy that the country has successfully launched the UHC pilot programme. The PS lauded Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua for issuing a directive that there should be no private clinics near public hospitals.
