Donaldson homer helps Blue Jays earn split with Yankees

Josh Donaldson clubbed a tiebreaking solo homer to right field in the eighth inning and the Blue Jays went on to a 3-2 win over the Yankees on Sunday afternoon. With a sellout crowd of 46,782 cheering loudly, Donaldson hit his sixth homer of the season, an opposite field shot off New York reliever Tyler Clippard, to break open a 2-2 tie. Toronto, which split the four-game series with the AL East leaders, also got a two-run shot from Justin Smoak in the sixth inning. The Jays’ 10th win in their past 13 games brought them once again to within a game of .500, at 28-29. Jays starter Marcus Stroman went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out four.
