Don’t snub summons, county bosses told


Peter Munya, the Council of Governors chairman, said some county bosses were disrespected when they appeared before the committee. The Meru senator said governors have consistently questioned the Senate’s power to summon the county bosses. Governors should be the last resort in the event junior officers fail to adequately respond to the queries raised by Parliamentary committees, he said. The Senate Public Accounts and Investments committee yesterday hit back at governors, warning them of serious consequences if they ignore summons to appear before it. “The committee will recommend, according to the Standing Orders and other laws, appropriate steps to be taken against governors.
