About HK$90,000 worth of counterfeit mooncakes have been seized. Days ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival, 340 boxes of counterfeit mooncakes worth HK$90,000 have been seized by customs and four suspects arrested, including a elderly man believed to be the mastermind. The mooncakes, packaged to be passed off as those from Hang Heung, were seized from a Chinese restaurant and a warehouse in Yuen Long. In an operation last Friday in Yuen Long, the bogus mooncakes and about 200 mooncake redemption vouchers bearing a false trade description, were seized customs said. Customs said they had received reports on a Chinese restaurant in Yuen Long selling the counterfeit delicacies.
