President Rodrigo Duterte has allowed more than 1,000 health personnel to work abroad, Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said. In a televised news briefing on Monday, Roque said health care workers with complete documents as of August 31, 2020 were allowed to leave the country. “Nakinig naman po ang Presidente sa hinaing ng mga nurses so ‘yun meron na pong mga papeles at kumpletong documentation as of August 31,2020, pinayagan na po ni Presidente na makaalis para sa kanilang trabaho abroad (the President listened to the appeal of nurses so those who had completed their documentation can leave),” he said. Roque said around 1,500 nurses and other health professionals will benefit from the President’s decision. The government earlier suspended the deployment of health workers abroad amid the health crisis.
