Writing in The BMJ they urged the British Medical Association to drop its opposition to assisted dying, where doctors provide or administer drugs to help patients end their lives. A poll last October found 55 per cent of doctors wanted it to be made legal, subject to safeguards. Fiona Godlee, the journal’s editor-in-chief, said: “The BMJ supports the legalisation of assisted dying.
