Do everything in your power to ensure regional peace, Uhuru tells Angola summit


The Presidents of Kenya, Uganda, Congo Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, and South Africa attended the summit. President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked leaders of the Great Lakes region to do everything in their power to secure peace and stability. On South Sudan, Uhuru urged members states and international community to give unequivocal support to the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC) to ensure enforcement of recent agreements. The ICGLR is a regional inter-governmental organisation whose 12 member states are Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Angola, South Sudan, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo, Sudan and Zambia. In an overview of situation in DRC, South Sudan and Burundi, the President appreciated renewed collaboration and support from international partners in regional peace efforts.
