I’ve been poor, or as the government likes to put it, ‘below the poverty line’ for the past seven years. I had a 3.8 GPA juggling volunteer work, a busy week of extracurricular activities for the kids and basically parenting alone. The cost of this living is high, but we don’t realize how much toll people take to live like this. I don’t know how we’re going to fix this, but I can say I know this isn’t tenable.
