Disruptive roadworks at busy Kensington intersection finished after nine months

It's taken a while but roadworks at a busy Kensington intersection have been completed. After more than nine months of construction, the asphalting work at the Kamo Rd/Nixon St/Kensington Ave intersection has been completed. The contractor will be on site for the next few weeks to complete any remaining work and tidy up the site. Mr Devine said the intersection was the final stage of a project that spanned several years, eliminating accident hotspots at the Mill Rd/Nixon St intersection, installing four lanes along Nixon St and straightening the Kensington Rd/Nixon St intersection. "These projects combined with major New Zealand Transport Agency projects around Whangarei during the same period, improve traffic flow and safety through the city."
